There's a saying...


...that daily news desks like their photographs "tight and bright." That usually means close-up shots, zoomed-in shots, one person doing one thing. But from my POV, that gets old. "Tight bright, warm as shite," said the news photographer. Part of the fun of photography is to try out different ways to frame the subject, which is what I tried for here. It's not a typical news photo. It doesn't slap you in the face and say HERE'S A MAN AND A SOCCER BALL. It makes you look a little harder. For the record, I don't think this is an amazing photo or anything. But I like the composition. I'd hope news readers would welcome a photo that might require a second glance to appreciate the lines and composition around Mr. Huynh and his soccer ball.
